This study aims to prove the reduction in gadget addiction levels among 9th- grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Semarang influenced by group guidance services using self-control techniques.
The type of research is experimental, aimed at explaining and predicting phenomena that occur and will occur between certain variables through manipulation. Experimental research is defined as a research method used to determine the effect of a given treatment on other elements under controlled conditions.
The results of the study indicate the effectiveness of group guidance programs in reducing gadget addiction levels among 9th-grade students at SMP Negeri 13 Semarang for the 2024/2025 academic year. This program has a significant positive impact, as evidenced by decreased scores on various indicators of gadget addiction. The success of this program is supported by a gradual approach, starting from self- awareness, reflection, time management, to formulating a commitment to change. Active student involvement in group discussions, reflection, and peer support were critical factors in enhancing the program's effectiveness.
